Drawing on Your Vision and Imagination

Your design: Whether you’re designing a single building or developing an entire town, architectural illustrations can make a critical difference in how your clients, the public, government officials, and investors will perceive the merits of your project. Architectural illustrations are often the first tangible expression of how your project fits contextually within its surroundings, and may be the first opportunity they have to understand the scope and complexity of your vision.

Architectural Illustration created at El Paso charrette with PlacemakersYour vision: Every architectural illustrator has his or her own style of visually expressing your vision. Some illustrators strive for photographic realism while others express concepts more artistically using color and gesture to give a feel for the project rather than attempt to define specific details. Our studio falls in between these two realms, striving for accuracy in proportion and composition, while employing the softness and warmth of hand drawn artwork. We believe in the same philosophy when creating our computer renderings, using modeling techniques and filters that mimic hand drawn lines and color to highlight the beauty of the architecture and the surrounding environment.

New Urbanism: As a member of the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) since 2002, Dede Christopher has had the pleasure of attending and participating in over 70 charrettes as an architectural illustrator. In these 3-6 day events, the job of the illustrator during the charrette is to help visualize the ideas and concepts created during the intensive planning and design sessions. Drawings must be produced very quickly during the event, and yet stay faithful to the unique sense of place and spirit of the design concepts. Many of the images represented on our website were created in design charrettes hosted in towns and cities across the United States.
